Introduction to Grantseeking

This comprehensive and flexible course will teach you the key skills for grantseeking, taking you through the process of developing and writing a successful funding proposal. It is ideal for anyone with less than a year’s experience in grantseeking. It also provides an excellent introduction for people who want to enter the fundraising profession.

We will concentrate on Foundations and consider them in a global context. Many aspects are relevant to all types of high value donors (governments, companies and wealthy individuals).

Together we will:

  1. Look at how and why Foundations are formed.

  2. Guide you on setting appropriate funder research aims.

  3. Train you to use a wide variety of research tools and efficiently record important information.

  4. Look at how you convert a well-designed project into a powerful proposal and equip you to write informal and complex applications.

  5. Explain how to build and maintain relationships with donors. Ideally you want excellent rapport with your donors before you submit a proposal, and a well-managed relationship to retain them.

  6. Explain the essential elements of a Foundation fundraising plan and share a tried and tested template for developing a plan.
